  • Daisy Award Winner

The DAISY Awards are an international honor that recognize exceptional nurse educators. Awardees were nominated by co-workers and peers for their commitment to upholding high professional standards.

Debra Casper, DNP, RN, ACNP, CCRN
    Awarded August 2025

Dr. Deb Casper embodies excellence, faith, leadership, and service in all that she does. As the program director of the Adult Gerontology Acute-Care Nurse Practitioner program in the College of Nursing at Marquette and president of the Delta Gamma at Large Chapter of the STT Nursing Society, Deb influences our college in multiple ways to engage in empathy-building and fairness. Each student cohort of the AGACNP program works on a service project that benefits the community by engaging with local organizations on projects ranging from blanket-making to clothing drives to food distributions. Most recently, the students provided bagged lunches to Milwaukee’s Street Angels. The practice of having a cohort outreach project does several good things: building empathy within the students, broadening students’ understanding of the social determinants of health, and cultivating student leaders. She also demonstrates creativity in her assignments, such as implementing a mock-interview process for the last semester practicum for students in her program. As president of the local nursing society chapter, Deb also presents opportunities for the College of Nursing to engage in small community projects, like making Valentine’s cards for nursing home residents. Deb does not do these projects alone, but plays an integral part in connecting the students, faculty, and staff of our college to opportunities to care about others. She demonstrates leadership on campus by serving as an evaluator for CCNE and also helps organize a semi-annual pharmacology conference, which provides a low-cost means of gaining continuing education credit for MU preceptors and nurses in practice. Dr. Casper is well-respected by her colleagues and her community. She is an Extraordinary Nurse, DNP, and colleague who is highly deserving of this award.

  • 2025Sigma Convention - Nov.

    DELEGATE information

    House of Delegates

The House of Delegates is the body of Sigma that holds legislative and judicial powers. According to the bylaws, each chapter must have representation to act on its behalf in the House of Delegates for items of business before the organization. It is vital that every chapter is represented and has a voice, so your service as a delegate is truly appreciated!

For the 48th Biennial Convention, the House of Delegates will take place from 10-11 November. This is a synchronous event, and all delegates (in-person and virtual) must be available during the posted times in order to participate and cast their votes in real-time. These sessions will include voting on proposed bylaws and articles of incorporation amendments and the slate of international officers, reporting on the activities of the biennium, and recognition of award recipients and new chapters.

Chapters should have identified convention delegates in the Chapter Management System (CMS). If your chapter has any delegate changes, please contact delegatesupport@sigmanursing.org.

Communication to delegates starts early, so it is imperative to appoint them on time. Each chapter has two delegate positions to fill. One person can fill both roles but needs to be designated in the Chapter Management System as both Chapter Delegate 1 and Chapter Delegate 2 for that individual to cast both chapter votes during the proceedings. It is also recommended that chapters identify an alternate delegate to ensure chapter representation in case an emergency arises. This is especially important if only one person is listed as both Chapter Delegate 1 and Chapter Delegate 2 and is casting both votes. Please keep in mind that any active, dues-paying member of your chapter can represent the chapter as a delegate. In addition to identifying delegates in the CMS, delegates also need to be registered convention attendees in order to participate. The standard registration deadline is 8 October 2025

    Meet the Candidates

During the House of Delegates, delegates will vote on the slate of international officers. Each candidate has also provided a written and video statement for delegates to review. Also, delegates can learn more during the virtual conversations with the candidates.
